Biography

Nick Vine, osteopath and founder of the Burton Road ClinicNick has over 15 years of experience working in several clinics, including working within the NHS system via a GP contract. He maintains good working relationships with local medics largely due to his commitment to a professional set-up. Nick enjoys the day to day contact with the public and gains satisfaction from improving the quality of life of his patients.

Nick founded the Burton Road Clinic in 2005, and has been practicing in the Didsbury area since 1999.

Training & certifcation

Nick obtained a Bsc in Osteopathy from the British School of Osteopathy in London in 1993. He has a very strong knowledge base of osteopathy and anatomy that is kept up to date by currently doing 20-30 times the number of CPD (Continued Professional Development) hours that the General Osteopathic Council requires. This commitment to CPD ensures that the standards of his practice remain high and up to date with new research in the field. He is currently studying for his MSc diploma at Leeds University.

In the Clinic

As the Clinic's osteopath, Nick treats a lot of mechanical injuries, with many of the clients coming to be treated for sports and fitness related injuries, work based injuries, postural problems, pregnancy related problems, as well elderly patients. He generally uses structural osteopathy, which involves manipulation and massage methods. As he has done large amount of post-graduate training in cranial osteopathy, he can use this approach if patients prefer.

Due on his expertise and professionalism, Nick has a expanding clientele base who come to him year after year, ranging from footballers, climbers, yoga teachers, and both professional and amateur athletes, including many England lacrosse players.

He also has a lot of experience in care of the elderly and their needs. A growing demographic he is treating in the clinic is the IT crowd, who also have specific issues due to the sedentary nature of the job.

Background

Nick has a strong background in sport thoughout his life - in squash, running, cycling, waterskiing, lacrosse and rowing.

In his student days he organised a treatment support team for the British Barefoot Waterski team at the world championships. He also helped to run the university lacrosse club, and for several years he ran the post-graduate osteopathic study group for Manchester and Cheshire, greatly improving the quality of education.
